Japanese Art Camp (Age 12 and up)
When: December 28th- 30th, 3-5pm
Price: $120/child
Age: 12 and UP
Teacher: Lika
Sumi brush techniques is a Japanese traditional painting medium. We will learn how to paint with sumi black ink, special bamboo brushes and rice paper.
Learn about the philosophy of Japanese painting through calming brush strokes and calligraphy.
Japanese Art Philosophy
Japanese art is free and fluid, the idea is not simply to reproduce the appearance of the subject, but to capture its spirit. To paint a horse, the artist must understand its temperament better than its muscles and bones. To paint a flower, there is no need to perfectly match its petals and colors, but to convey its liveliness and fragrance. East Asian art may be regarded as a form of expressionistic art that captures the unseen.
